GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE AWARENESS IS A CIVIC DUTY

 

Instructions:  Pick one activity or develop a different activity with teacher approval.  At the conclusion of the activity you chose, you must provide:

  1. Write up a complete description of all the steps you took to complete your activity.
  2. Reflect on what you did.  Examples:  Did you think your project went well?  What would you have done differently?  Etc.
  3. Provide documentation.   Examples:  Provide examples of any letters you wrote.  Provide examples of responses you received.  Etc.

ACTIVITY IDEAS

1.     Public Service Announcement:

Student will create Public Service Announcements and make arrangements for sharing in some way, perhaps morning announcements, student newspapers, fliers, posters, etc.  It should include:

2.    Write To Public Officials/Candidates/Organizations To Determine Their Position On Global Climate Change

Student will create a letter which can be duplicated for at least five candidates and/or officials. The letter should identify the student, describe the project, and include questions that concern global climate change.

3.    Create Or Participate In An “Environmentally Aware” Club On Campus

The student would need to research the requirements for establishing a club on their campus.  Activities might include:

4.    The student will attend a public seminar or workshop that addresses global climate change.  They will present and discuss their findings.

5.    Participate In Local Or National Organizations

8.    Current Events Portfolio On Global Climate Change

Create a portfolio using news articles from around the world.  The portfolio will consist of each article, a personal reaction to the article, as well as an explanation of how the article connects to science behind global climate change.
